BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man received seven years in prison for a string of armed robberies in December 2021, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.

Cesarick Merritt, 35, attempted to steal cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes while armed on three different occasions. Two were on the same day, Dec. 5, 2021, at stores on Abbott Road in Buffalo and Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga, while the third was five days later at a store on the 1000 block of East Lovejoy Street in Buffalo.

Merrick pleaded guilty in March to three counts of first-degree attempted robbery.

Following his prison sentence, he will be subject to five years of post-release supervision. In addition, final orders of protection were issued on behalf of the victims of each robbery until September 2039.
