BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Some nursing home workers at the Weinberg Campus in Getzville said Wednesday that their paychecks issued last Friday have since bounced back, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East said in a release.

The announcement follows the workers’ protest last week at the facility over their reports of unpaid wage increases and benefits, poor leadership and more.

An agreed upon 18-month contract voted in by the workers just months ago included the wage and pension increases along with a shift differential, the union said.

“Today, we learned that paychecks issued last Friday for some workers have since bounced and pending direct deposits for workers this week have not cleared,” said Grace Bogdanove, 1199SEIU Vice-President for WNY Nursing Homes, in the statement.  “We will not know the full extent of how many workers are impacted until Friday’s payroll deadline.”

1199SEIU said it signed a joint letter with Weinberg Campus Board and Schofield Residence chairs asking the New York State Department of Health to provide money to support a transfer of ownership to Schofield Residence.

The union will give an update on Friday.

WIVB News 4 reached out to the Weinberg Campus late Wednesday night and are waiting for hear back.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
