BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was arrested Friday in connection with an assault involving a knife that took place Wednesday afternoon on Niagara Street, the Buffalo Police Department announced.

Around noon on Wednesday, officers responded to a knife call and found the bloody male victim who alleged the suspect had almost hit him while driving on the designated bike lane. Renier Uranta, 35, then allegedly exited his vehicle to assault the victim.

Uranta returned to his vehicle, grabbed what appeared to be a knife and struck the victim several more times before fleeing the scene, according to police.

He was located at Niagara Street and Potomac Avenue a short time later before being transported to ECMC for treatment. Uranta was arrested after being discharged.

He was charged with the following:

    • third-degree assault
    • second-degree menacing
    • second-degree harassment
    • failure to use designated lane
