HARTFORD, CT (WROC) — Hobart grabbed their second straight national championship after taking down Trinity 2-0 Saturday night. The Statesmen are the first program to win back-to-back titles in Division III men’s hockey since St. Norbert in 2011 and 2012.

Late in the second period, Luke Aquaro scored off an assist from Jonah Alexander to give Hobart the lead. Matthew Iasenza scored an empty netter for the Statesmen with 25 seconds left to put the game away.

Sophomore goaltender Damon Beaver had another stellar game for Hobart with 25 saves. Beaver pitched his seventh shutout of the season which matches the school record he set last year.

Hobart senior Austin Mourar was named the tournament’s most outstanding player. Aquaro and Tanner Hartman were named to the all-tournament team.
