UTICA, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester native Haley Winn is just a junior in college, but her prolific hockey resume was updated again on Wednesday.

Playing for Team USA at the IIHF Women’s World Championship in Utica, NY, Winn scored a pair of goals to lead her team to a 4-0 victory over Switzerland. She was named the Player of the Game for Team USA.

Winn scored Team USA’s first goal in the second period and sniped home another goal in the third. Winn played on Team USA in 2023, helping her team win the gold medal, but her two goals on Tuesday were her first with Team USA.

Winn was on Team USA’s Under-18 team while also playing for Bishop Kearney Selects in Rochester, winning a gold and silver medal in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

The defender plays for Clarkson University, which recently made the Division I Frozen Four. Winn led the Golden Knights with 29 assists and was tied for first with 39 points last season.

Winn and Team USA will be back in action on Friday night when they play Czechia.
