VICTOR, N.Y. (WROC) — Victor baseball used a pair of crooked numbers to take down Hilton 5-3 as the Blue Devils opened up their home and Section V schedule.

Trailing 2-0 entering the fourth inning, Chris Swackhamer hit a two-run single with the bases loaded to tie the game up. Grady Kessler got another run home two batters late with an RBI single to give the Blue Devils a 3-2 lead.

Hilton answered in the fifth, with Sam Hogan hitting a two-out RBI single to tie the game up at 3.

But in the sixth inning, Victor put the game away for good. Adam Ruffalo laid down a bunt to move Mitchell Schalberg over from first, but Hilton’s throw was off the mark which allowed Schalberg to score. Later in the inning, Keith Kriegelstein hit a high and deep shot just in front of the left-center wall to bring home another run.

Schalberg had a pair of hits and scored two runs. John Swartz and Kessler also had two hits.

Weston Elkovich pitched a complete game for the Blue Devils, striking out six batters.

Hogan also had a two-run double in the first inning for the Cadets.

The game was moved up from Wednesday to Tuesday to take advantage of the good spring weather.

Victor (3-1) and Hilton (2-3) will meet again later this week on Friday, April 12th at Hilton. The Cadets will also play Spencerport on Wednesday.
