    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Here are the Elite awards for boys wrestling, starting with small schools.

    Small Schools

    Our small school winner went 54-1 this year. He was named the most outstanding wrestler for the heavier weight classes at the Wayne, Finger Lakes League Championships, where he and his team won titles.

    He led his team to the Section V Dual meet championship in January and then won the individual sectional title at 170-pounds in February.

    He also won his first State championship and finished the season ranked 21st in the nation by Sports Illustrated.

    The small school boys wrestling award winner is Braidon Woodward from Palmyra-Macedon.

    Large Schools

    The large school winner went a perfect 46-0 this season. He also led his team to a Section V Dual meet championship and followed with an individual sectional championship at 190-pounds.

    He then not only won a state title, but dominated his four state matches were two pins, a tech fall and a 13-0 major decision in the championship match.

    He finished the year as the number six wrestler in the country as ranked by Sports Illustrated, and he will join the top ten division one program at Cornell next year.

    Our large school boys wrestling winner is Elijah Diakomihalis from Hilton!
