Flower City Union awarded proclamation from City of Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester is officially a title town after the Flower City Union soccer team became the 2023 National Independent Soccer Association champions.

The City of Rochester awarded the team a special proclamation Friday for their victory.

The team struggled for part of the year, but managed to sneak their way into the playoffs. They played as underdogs on the road, winning three straight games to take the title.

Despite coming out on top, the team will not be defending their title, as they are changing leagues for the 2024 season, moving to the National Premier Soccer League.
