Rochester animal shelter expanding weekend hours

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester Animal Services shelter on Verona Street in the city is expanding its hours due to an increase in demand.

According to the City of Rochester, the shelter will be open every day, including weekends, beginning this Friday. It’s the shelter’s second expansion of hours so far this year .

“Since we extended hours in January we have not seen the expected level of increased traffic in the evenings, but we have seen more on the weekends,” said Dr. Shirley Green, Commissioner of the Department of Recreation and Human Services.

Weekend hours will be noon to 4:00 p.m., with appointments ending at 3:30 p.m.
