ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The City of Rochester is introducing a new program to keep the city clean.

It’s called Respect Rochester — an anti-littering campaign in partnership with the group Walking For Rochester. As part of the program, the city’s Department of Environmental Services will be ramping up trash removal efforts in commercial areas.

They’ll also be adding staff at four neighborhood service centers, and have hired more code enforcement inspectors. The biggest part of this initiative, they say, is getting the community involved.

Mayor Malik Evans says the city doesn’t have enough employees to keep the city clean by themselves, especially when considering Walking for Rochester’s lofty goals.

You can get involved by signing up for the city’s clean sweep , coming up on May 4.
