ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Multiple New York State Assemblymembers and Senator Samra Brouk released a joint statement calling for an investigation of Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley.

On Friday, bodycam footage worn by a Webster Police Officer was released and showed Doorley outside of her home after refusing to pull over for the officer. In the video, Doorley admitted to speeding and tried to invoke her status as the District Attorney while refusing to follow orders.

In their statement, NY Assemblymembers Sarah Clark, Harry Bronson, Jen Lunsford, Demond Meeks, and Senator Samra Brouk, all democrats, called Doorley’s behavior in the video “completely unethical” and referenced the footage of her cursing at the officer.

“What we’re saying in this statement is that the District Attorney is not above the law, and she needs to be held accountable for her actions. Not only the traffic violation, but all of her actions revealed in that video,” said Bronson.

The NY lawmakers called for an investigation and for ethical charges to be brought upon Doorley, citing unacceptable behavior toward the officer and the abuse of power.

Senator Jeremy Cooney also released a statement saying, “District Attorney Sandra Doorley’s conduct during the recent traffic stop was inappropriate, dangerous, and unacceptable. Not only are public officials not above the rule of law, we should be holding ourselves to a higher standard.”
