ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Runners of all ages participated in the Flower City Challenge on Sunday.

YellowJacket Racing & Fleet Feet hosted the annual Flower City Challenge where over 2000 adults and 100 Kids participated. This event began at Parcel 5 and included a 5K, half marathon, and a kid’s half mile for ages four to 12.

The owner of Fleet Feet, Ellen Brenner-Boutiller said, “So for the people they came and visited and ran and participated or even spectated, we want them to see all the riches that Rochester has and to experience that on the journey on their feet. Plus, we want to be able to bring commerce downtown and see people see the hotels, the restaurants, whatever may be. So whatever we can do to revitalize downtown and also showcasing our city. That’s our job”

Since its creation in 2010, the event has included views of the historical and cultural staples of Rochester like the Susan B Anthony area, Park Avenue and East Avenue neighborhoods, Highland Park, U of R, Genesee Valley Park, and Downtown.
