ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A nurse in Monroe County has been penalized for allegedly creating false vaccine records.

The NYS Department of Health says Sandra Miceli, a nurse practitioner who operated the natural wellness center “Surviving Naturally” in Webster, was accused of creating false immunization records that affected hundreds of children in the area.

After non-medical exemptions for required school vaccines were eliminated in 2019, it was alleged Miceli falsely reported that her patients received vaccines when they did not. Investigators said there have been 546 false vaccination reports for 116 children who were school-aged or younger.

The DOH revealed Miceli has posted anti-vaccination propaganda and spread misinformation on social media about vaccines. They add she opposed vaccine requirements.

As part of a settlement with the DOH, Miceli was ordered to pay $30,000 of a $55k penalty. She is banned from administering vaccines that must be reported to the NYS Immunization System.

Parents and schools of affected children will be contacted if a child’s vaccine records are not valid. Parents who are affected are required to vaccinate their students before they return to school.

If your kid’s records were affected by this incident, you may contact the Monroe County Department of Health’s immunization clinic at (585)-753-5150.
