PENFIELD, N.Y. (WROC) – Assemblymember Jen Lunsford teamed up with Monroe County’s IMPACT on Saturday at the Penfield Community Center to offer free Narcan training to teach people how to administer Narcan which is the life-saving medication used to reverse opioid overdoses.

Fentanyl overdoses devastate communities across the nation. Lunsford said it’s crucial for those in the community to have the tools needed to prevent overdoses.

Those who attended got to opportunity to learn how to recognize the signs of an overdose, administer Narcan, and provide support until emergency responders’ arrival.

“Narcan training is an essential step in our ongoing efforts to combat the fentanyl crisis and save lives in our community,” Lunsford said. “By equipping individuals with the tools and knowledge to respond to overdoses, we can make a meaningful difference and prevent further tragedies.”
