ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced the release of a rehabilitated bald eagle on Tuesday.

According to NYS DEC, they received a number of calls regarding an injured bald eagle in the southeast end of Irondequoit Bay in Webster. After picking up the injured bird, they sent it to the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital to get a bone in its left wing repaired.

Following the eagle’s stay at the hospital, they brought it to the Kindred Kingdoms Wildlife Rehab Center to recover.

DEC announced that on May 7, the eagle was released within two miles from where it was originally found and can be seen flying away in the video at the top of this page.
