    Mendon’s Matt Carpentier wins golf sectional title

    VICTOR, N.Y. (WROC) — Pittsford Mendon’s Matt Carpentier shot a four-under 68 to take first place at the Section V individual championships on Saturday at Ravenwood Golf Club.

    Carpentier won the Class A title and will lead 25 golfers into Monday’s Super Sectionals at Irondequoit Country Club. The top nine players after the cumulative 36-hole event will advance to the state tournament.

    McQuaid teammates Danny Wehle and Richard Essen shared the Class AA title. They each finished tied for second with a two-under 69. Victor’s Ethan Domajnko and Brody Burgess were the only other players under par, both shooting 71.

    Ryan Thompson of Addison won the Class B title for the third straight year, shooting a two-over 74. Joe Walsh of Bloomfield won in Class C, shooting a 79. Tyler Koch of Cal-Mum birdied the final hole to shoot a 78 and win the Class C crown.
