    Pal-Mac boys, Pittsford girls lacrosse lift into sectional finals

    Boys Lacrosse

    Class C Semifinals: (1) Pal-Mac 4, (4) Livonia/Avon 3

    In a game that featured just three goals in the final three quarters, undefeated Pal-Mac survived a scare from Livonia/Avon and advanced to the sectional finals.

    Both teams scored twice in the first quarter and neither team scored in the second.

    Brayden Arber scored for Livonia/Avon to give the Lakers a 3-2 lead, but Reid Diehl scored a man-up later in the third to tie the game at three.

    Keagan Hoesterey netted a hat trick, including the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter.

    Colton Rose made 15 saves for Livonia/Avon while Peyton Lich made eight saves for Pal-Mac.

    Pal-Mac (17-0) will face HF-L in the finals on Saturday, who beat Gevena 17-5 in the semifinals.

    Livonia/Avon’s season ends with a 10-8 record.

    Girls Lacrosse

    Class A Semifinals: (4) Pittsford 7, (1) Penfield 5

    Pittsford trailed 4-3 early in the third quarter, but the Panthers scored three straight goals to advance to the Class A championship game.

    Pittsford’s Cecily Kaul scored with eight minutes remaining in the third quarter then Annike Hezel scored with 2:35 left in the frame to give the Panthers the lead.

    Cate Rathnam and Kyra Tomeny added insurance goals for Pittsford in the fourth quarter.

    Pittsford (9-9) will face Fairport in the finals on Tuesday, May 28th. The Red Raiders defeated Rush-Henrietta 11-9 in the other semifinal after being down 7-2 at the half.

    Penfield’s season ends with a 12-5 record.
