WEBSTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Volunteers spent their Saturday morning cutting grass and weeds around the West Webster Memorial on Lake Road.

The memorial honors the lives of Tomasz Kaczowka and Michael Chiapperini who were killed in an ambush while responding to a fire in Webster on Lake Road on Christmas Eve in 2012. Ted Scardino and Joe Hofstetter were injured during the ambush and survived.

Volunteers took this as an opportunity to pay their respects to Kaczowka and Chiapperini, honor their sacrifices, and to make sure their names were not forgotten.

I'm a social member of the West Webster Fire Department and I want to just say thank you very much to those folks that spend time making the memorial on Lake Road beautiful.
