Good Cause Evictions forum held in Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester City Council members gathered Tuesday for a forum over Good Cause Eviction laws and LLC loopholes.

Advocates say the law , if enacted, would protect renters from rent hikes and unfair evictions, and guarantee lease renewals to tenants who have been paying rent and following their lease.

Rochester City Council proposed the legislation opt in to these protections in June. Housing advocates have argued they would be the weakest protections in the state, excluding over 17,000 rental units.

More forums on the topic will be held Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ryan R Center on Webster Avenue, and August 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Edgerton R Center.

It's not just paying your rent where the problem is, it's a number of things. One thing could be the rent goes up and the landlord is trying to out price the rent for more money. or you have neighbors that talk about you to landlord when there is nothing going on. Ass kissers. So it's just one thing that it could be.
