ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man was arrested on a weapon charge after he was fired from his job at a gas station in Chili.

On Tuesday, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was sent to the Speedway location on Chili Avenue to provide support as 35-year-old Jovon Williams was being fired. MCSO obtained information that he illegally possessed a pistol.

Deputies said 37-year-old Valerie Webb dropped Williams off at the Speedway. Upon discovering the vehicle registration was suspended, Williams was ordered to get out of the car and was told not to take anything out of it.

It was alleged that Williams got out of the car, but went towards the back, which led deputies to arrest him. A search of the car uncovered a loaded revolver and suspected drugs. Deputies said Williams and Webb did not have pistol permits.

Williams was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned in Chili Town Court and taken to the Monroe County Jail.

In addition, Webb was charged with operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and without insurance. She was given an appearance ticket.
