Penfield Costco proposal withdrawn, new plan expected

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The developers behind a proposal which would bring a Costco to Penfield withdrew their original application Wednesday.

The sketch plan application submitted in July included a 170,000-square-foot store, a pickleball facility, four 26-unit apartment buildings and commercial buildings.

Many argued against the initial proposal at a recent Penfield Town Board meeting, some claiming the project “ would damage the entire town .” Residents cited traffic, safety, and environmental concerns.

Developers withdrew that proposal Wednesday, saying they planned to make changes based on the feedback before resubmitting a new application.
