GREECE, N.Y. (WROC) — Macy’s has sold their building in the Mall at Greece Ridge for $2.6 million. The company filed last week, selling to Del Associates, a company based in Florida. The store itself remains open.

The clothing store chain has been faced with several financial issues and intends to close 150 stores by 2026, while investing in its delivery fleet.

It’s not clear at this time if the store will close, or when. A Macy’s spokesperson said the company is working a new strategy to grow, adding:

Under the agreement, we are leasing back the store, which continues to operate as normal. We invite customers to continue shopping with us in-store at Macy’s Mall at Greece Ridge, online at macys.com and on the Macy’s App.

This comes as Bubble House opens at the Mall at Greece Ridge.

The 560-square-foot space opened at the food court on Saturday next to Famous Wok. The eatery offers customizable drinks, acai bowls, ice cream, smoothies, and crepes.

The Greece Ridge Mall says that online ordering and delivery from this Bubble House location will be available at a later date.

Also at Greece Ridge, the new True Storage location is now under construction. The self-storage and climate-controlled facility will take up the old Sears, with over 90,000 sq. ft. of space.

The Sears there closed in 2018.

A spokesperson with Wilmorite, the developer of the mall, said that Sears sold the wing to True Storage, and True Storage is doing a land lease with the mall.

True Storage’s website does not have an updated timeframe for completion.

On the other side of the mall, Apple Cinemas is also under construction.

The sit-down and dine-in model of theater took over the former Regal. News 8 first learned that the chain would be moving in last year.

A spokesperson for Apple Cinemas tells News 8 that they are looking to open by the end of this year or the beginning of the next.

Apple Cinemas opened in Pittsford earlier this year.

Macys needs to understand that online shopping is cheaper than going to their stores and many others stores also. The thefts, fights, and ignorance of some people is why a lot of people don’t go shopping anymore. Plus you get free shipping online in some instances. So why waste gas?
