Rochester native volunteering at Democratic National Convention

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Born and raised in Rochester, Theresa Lou Bowick says volunteering is part of her DNA.

This week she’s among the 12,000 volunteers at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. It’s her first time at a political convention and she says the energy and excitement has been visible all week.

Her assignment began as a greeter at both airports in Chicago.  Later in the week,  she worked at both the United Center and McCormick Place Convention Center answering questions and helping delegates, dignitaries, their families and other participants.

Bowick says she also used the opportunity to learn about programs and solutions that can help her neighbors tackle issues such as poverty, affordable housing, services for people with disabilities and neighborhood crime.
