ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Webster police are warning residents of recent coyote sightings in the area.

Officers said they have received calls about coyotes in the area of the Webster Park and Whiting Road Nature Preserve trails.

The reports indicate the coyotes are coming dangerously close to people walking on the trail and even stalking callers.

If you encounter a coyote on these trails, the Webster Police Department is urging you to call 911 and tell the operator what trail you are on, where you are on the trail, an identifiable feature, and the route you are using to leave.
