ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC)— A first for the Gates community Sunday morning, as legislators teamed up for the town’s inaugural farmer’s market at Westmar Plaza.

The event, held by the Gates Conservation Board, was spearheaded by Monroe County Legislator Virginia McIntyre.

After months of planning, plenty of folks were in attendance for its first day. Organizers said, farmer’s markets do more than just provide food and services, they are also a space for communities to gather.

“Gates is a very special place, and it’s a community with all kinds of different people and they all love supporting each other and working together,” McIntyre said.

Legislators noted, they’re excited to see what the future holds for the farmer’s market. According to its official poster, the next farmer’s market is scheduled for Sept. 29 and again Oct. 20.
