EquiCenter receives $150k grant for arena expansion

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The EquiCenter has received a $150,000 grant from Golisano Foundation.

Golisano sent this grant to support the EquiCenter’s five-year plan that includes construction of an additional indoor riding arena and will also address the demand for their mounted, equine-assisted learning services.

The EquiCenter is currently running at full capacity despite construction being underway, with over 120 people on the waitlist. 90-percent of the people on this list have an intellectual disability diagnosis.

“Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the Golisano Foundation for this transformative grant,” Executive Director Katherine Hatch said.

This expansion will allow a 30-percent increase in unique individuals served within the first year, and is expected to be operational within the first quarter of 2025.
