ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Work has finished on a project that revitalized Flower City Apartments on Culver Road.

The $20 million rehabilitation project involved revitalizing four distressed apartment buildings in Rochester. This included making urgent repairs to Flower City Apartments and modernizing it with new boilers, roofs, appliances, plumbing, and lighting.

The development features 149 affordable apartments with 56 of them having on-site supportive services. The project aimed to modernize the housing supply with apartments affordable to households earning 60% of the area’s median income.

“Rehabilitating apartment buildings strengthens our housing stock and this project will ensure that nearly 150 individuals and families in the Flower City have the dignity and stability of a safe, affordable home with the support they need to thrive,” said Governor Hochul.

The project is part of New York State’s housing plan to create and preserve thousands of affordable homes across the state.
