Blocks in Bloom helps beautify Rochester neighborhoods

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Blocks in Bloom initiative was hard at work beautifying local neighborhoods Thursday, one block at a time.

Volunteers are assigned to one of ten-square blocks in an under-served neighborhood in Rochester. They then help the residents garden, landscape, and maintain their front yards.

Rochester Mayor Malik Evans was there Thursday to help out. He proclaimed August 29 to be officially recognized as Blocks in Bloom Day to honor the group’s positive actions in the community.
