Man wanted for Hazelwood Terrace murder, reward offered

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The Rochester Police Department’s homicide unit is seeking the public’s help in locating Walter Balkum Jr., 49. He’s wanted for a murder on Aug. 27 in the area of Hazelwood Terrace in Rochester.

According to police, that night, a 43-year-old woman was found dead in her home after being stabbed. She has since been identified as Malikah Bruner.

Officers say Balkum, the suspect, stands about 6’2″ and weighs roughly 180 pounds. He has a scar under his right eye.

If you see Balkum, you’re asked to call 911. Those who have information on his whereabouts are asked to call (585) 428-9910. Police said, a cash reward may be available for anyone with information leading to his arrest.
