ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Deputies arrested a Canandaigua man on Tuesday who they say threw a knife at them.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said 41-year-old Nathaniel Waffner “overstayed his welcome” after being housed at a motel through the Department of Social Services. As deputies were trying to get him to leave, Waffner allegedly acted hostile, picked up a knife, and threw it at them.

Deputies said Waffner was arrested after he barricaded himself in the bathroom and resisted arrest. No injuries were reported.

Waffner has been charged with trespass, resisting arrest, and two counts of menacing a police officer. He was taken to the Ontario County Jail.
