Chick-fil-A looks to build at old Penfield gymnastics center

PENFIELD, N.Y. (WROC) — After years of effort trying to build at another location, Chick-fil-A is trying again to build in Penfield.

This time, the fast-food chain is looking to redevelop the former The Gymnastics Training Center of Rochester at 2051 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road.

The sketch plan submitted to the town of Penfield reads:

The applicant, Chick-fil-A, Inc. (“CFA”) is proposing to redevelop the ±2.146-acre parcel that was the former Gymnastics Training Center as a quick serve restaurant with drive thru. Access to the proposed site will be via the existing plaza access drive. CFA will be purchasing the property. CFA proposes to develop the site with a new ±5,397 sq. ft. restaurant with a three lane drive thru, outdoor patio area, detached meal ordering and meal delivery canopies over the drive thru. In addition to the drive thru restaurant, new asphalt parking, concrete curbing\sidewalk, utilities, stormwater mitigation, lighting, landscaping, signage and a dumpster enclosure\shed are proposed as depicted on the accompanying Site Plan.

The gymnastics center closed in 2022 when Sarah Jane Clifford closed the business after over 30 years.

This will be discussed at the next planning board public meeting on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.
