ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Three people were hospitalized Thursday afternoon after a crash involving an ambulance in Genesee County. It happened just before 3 p.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of a Kia was headed down Batavia-Elba Townline Road when they entered the intersection at Route 98, crashing into an ambulance carrying a patient. Deputies said the driver of the Kia failed to yield the right of way to the ambulance, causing the crash, which resulted in the ambulance rolling over onto its roof.

The driver and passenger of the Kia were both taken to the hospital where they are expected to survive their injuries. Deputies said the passenger had to be airlifted via Mercy Flight.

Crew members aboard the ambulance involved were deemed OK. The patient was taken to the hospital in another ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
