ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rain has steadily been moving through Western New York this evening with some occasional rumbles of thunder along a cold front. Storms have remained sub-severe and any additional activity through tonight is expected to remain sub-severe. Rain continues on and off through the overnight hours with the occasional rumble of thunder still present. Lows will be in the low 60s for most.

Rain lasts through the morning hours on Saturday but should wind down as the afternoon begins across much of the region opening the afternoon up for drier outdoor activities. We will be significantly cooler than previous days, now behind the cold front that passed on Friday with highs only in the mid-60s.

Sunday, winds are generally westerly with cool air still in place across the region. Above our heads, it will be cold enough in comparison to the lakes to help spark a few lake effect and lake enhanced rains showers throughout the day. This will not be a washout in Rochester, or Orchard Park for the Bills home opener against the Cardinals. We will once again be fairly cool though with highs in the mid-60s again so be sure to dress for the weather not the season.

After the weekend, we enter another extended dry stretch. Some clouds linger around for Monday, giving us a mixture of sun and clouds with temperatures rising into the low 70s for highs. Tuesday and Wednesday will feature less clouds than the days prior. Temperatures for both days will range between the upper 70s and low 80s.

    8-Day Forecast

High pressure continues its dominance throughout the rest of the week and into the first part of the weekend. Temperatures for both Thursday and Friday will be in the low to mid 80s. Skies remain clear heading into Saturday with temperatures dropping just a tad, into the upper 70s.
