ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The sentencing for a man who attempted to shoot a Monroe County deputy has been postponed.

News 8 confirmed that Alonzo Jones’s sentencing will be delayed as the next hearing will take place later in September.

In June 2022, The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was called to Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Henrietta regarding an armed man.

As deputies were de-escalating the situation, Alonzo Jones lifted a gun and tried to shoot at a deputy’s head , but missed and hit the wall next to his head. Deputies returned fire and Jones was taken into custody. There were no injuries.

Jones has been found guilty of attempted aggravated murder, attempted aggravated assault upon a police or peace officer, and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
