R.P. Fedder announces layoffs for Rochester manufacturing employees

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Multiple manufacturing employees will be laid off from R.P. Fedder Industrial, LLC. in Rochester.

A maximum of 25 people is expected to be laid off. Chris Fox, the president of R.P. Fedder, says those employees have the option of going to the Chicago location, but he would have preferred to stay in Rochester.

“This is a challenging time for the manufacturing employees who are affected and we’re committed to helping them find new placements,” Fox said. “While they all have the option of going to the Chicago location, that’s not practical for many that have roots in Rochester. These are dedicated, hard-working individuals who will be an asset to any business.”

Rensa Filtration acquired R.P Fedder. It is a company based in Illinois that manufactures mission-critical air filtration products. Rensa recently announced its decision to consolidate the manufacturing of filters for medical and industrial products. R.P. Fedder was included in this consolidation.

The layoffs will only affect employees in the custom manufacturing division of R.P. Fedder. Employees in the distribution division will not be affected.

R.P. Fedder says it has been the largest provider of air filters in the Finger Lakes region for over 60 years, providing filter solutions in most hospitals, schools, universities, and manufacturing businesses. They have also designed and outfitted cleanrooms and clean workstations.
