WEBSTER, N.Y. (WROC) – A memorial bike ride was held Sunday morning to honor the lives lost in the September 11, 2001, attack of the twin towers at the World Trade Center in New York City. Riders left the West Webster Association Building on Gravel Road in Webster at 8:40 a.m.

The bike ride had two routes through Webster. The 9-mile route and 19-mile route included a stop at the Lake Road December 24 Memorial. The ride ended with awards and breakfast for the riders. Proceeds from the bike ride went to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Community groups from all over Monroe County and surrounding counties joined together to remember September 11, 2001, and the 343 firefighters who died that day along with the many who have passed since from illnesses related to the September 11 attack.
