RPD looking for shooter after ‘large fight’ on Avenue D

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Rochester police are searching for a shooting suspect after officers said they witnessed a large fight on Avenue D near Hollenbeck Street.

According to police, they were called to the area just before 5 p.m. for the report of shots heard. After observing a fight, officers noted there was evidence of gunfire. Police said they were told the suspect fired a gun before running into a nearby house.

A portion of the road was shut down as officers called for backup. After interviewing multiple people in the area, police said they have yet to make an arrest in the case. As the investigation continues, anyone with information, or video of the incident, is urged to call 911.

The road has since been reopened.
