RPD: Child grabs loaded gun, accidentally shoots father

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester man was shot by his own child Sunday night on Velox Street, according to police.

Officers said a 26-year-old man had a loaded gun in his vehicle for which he had a license. His “young child,” as police described them, allegedly grabbed the gun which then discharged on accident, striking the man in the upper body.

He was taken to the hospital where he’s currently listed as stable.

Police said the father will be charged with endangering the welfare of a child for not properly keeping the gun away from his kid, who was not injured in the incident.
