ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Sunday, the Rochester community was fed – seasoned with love.

Folks over at the Community Justice Initiative and Sweet Ida Mae Pantry teamed up for a mission to ensure those facing food insecurity have direct access to healthy meals.

“We just want to give back to the community,” said Joshua Coley, an organizer. “Rochester, y’know – we have a lot of food desserts and people seeking resources.”

Every other Sunday, they visit a different spot in the city in the city for what’s called “Nourish the Village,” an event that meets people directly where they are.

Sunday’s spot was the RTS Transit Center on the St. Paul Street side.

“Rochester needs a lot of help right now,” Coley said. “A lot of organizations should step up. So, we’re just trying to set the example – and just, show people how to do it. It’s not too hard.”
