ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A clear sign of fall this weekend, as the temperatures slowly drop, and the leaves float off the trees. Although not official quite yet, some local fall staples are already getting into the spirit.

Apple picking: Open farms near you for the upcoming season

Schutt’s Apple Mill held its annual fall kickoff this weekend. It’s the biggest event of the year for the farm, as it draws in tastings from a variety of local vendors.

The event started Saturday with U-Pick apples, U-Cut flowers and face painting for the kids. It was complete with a fried cake eating contest.

Things concluded Sunday with a superhero and princess meet and greet, a petting zoo and even wagon rides.

“Apples are great this year, we’re excited about that. The weather is turning to nice crisp fall weather,” said Owner Evan Schutt. “We have events, y’know, all throughout the fall season.”
