ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester City School District announced public hearings after six of its schools have been identified as “Receivership schools.”

According to the NYS Department of Education, a school would be placed under Receivership if it was identified for the Comprehensive Support and Improvement model (CSI). Superintendent receivers exercise more authority to manage and improve the school’s performance.

Schools that are under Receivership, by state law, have to make significant gains in student achievement. The schools under Receivership are School No. 16, Monroe Upper School, Edison Career & Tech, Henry Hudson School No. 28, and John James Audubon School No. 33.

Concerns raised over RCSD’s calendar for Lunar New Year

RCSD will be holding four more puiblic hearings throughout the rest of September. The purpose of these hearings will be to share the performance of the schools and the construct of Receivership. Public comment and feedback will be accepted.

School No. 16 and Monroe Upper High already finished their meetings. The rest of the meetings are as scheduled:

    • Edison Caree & Technology High School — Thursday, September 12 at 6:45 p.m. Parent Retreat
    • East Lower School — Thursday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. Open house
    • Henry Hudson School No. 28 — Wednesday, September 25 at 5 p.m. Open house
    • John James Audubon School No. 33 — Thursday, September 26 at 4:30 p.m. Open house

More information about Receivership can be found on the Department of Education’s website.
