ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Over 1,000 people are expected to run in the Rochester 1/2 Marathon, 5K & Kids 1/2 Mile!

The marathon has been organized by YellowJacket Racing and Feet at Maplewood Park. Yellowjacket took over the event 10 years ago and has evolved over time. Only less than 160 spots are left!

The Half Marathon’s route heads towards Charlotte, through the O-Rorke Bridge, into Irondequoit, over the Seneca Park Pedestrian Bridge, south on the River Path towards Lower Falls, before finally ending at Innovative Field! The 5K follows a similar route to the half marathon.

Ellen Brenner-Boutillier, the event producer, shared she is excited to have an increase in registration compared to last year’s event.

Another aspect to be excited for is the size of the kids race with over 75 children registered. Havingthe children have their own event and finish just like the adults is so special for them to experience. We want to help create future Rochester runners,” she wrote in a statement.

Registration will be open until Saturday at 3:45 p.m. or until all of the remaining spots are filled. More info about registering can be found here. The race kicks off at 7:30 a.m.
