    NWS confirms tornado in Southern Jefferson County earlier this week

    TOWN OF WORTH, N.Y. (WWTI) – The National Weather Service in Buffalo confirmed early Thursday afternoon that tornado touched down in the Southern Jefferson County town of Worth on Monday, September 9.

    The NWS said the start time was at 5:15 p.m. and last for two minutes. The strength of the tornado was an EF-0 and had a 0.1 mile path length. The width of the storm was 50 yards, but the wind speed was unknown.

    The weather service was able to confirm the tornado thanks to clear sky days and the Sentinel-2 polar orbiting satellite.

    This tornado in the 32nd in New York State with 14 being confirmed by the Buffalo office.
