Second suspect arraigned in Cuba Place murder

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A second suspect was charged with murder Friday for a fatal August shooting in Rochester.

James Jackson Jr., 39, was shot multiple times while sitting in his car on Cuba Place. He did not survive. Investigators determined the shooting happened during a robbery attempt.

Timothy Brooks Jr., 20, was arrested on September 8 for a gunpoint robbery on Upper Falls Boulevard. Police said they learned he was involved in Jackson’s murder and charged with second degree murder Friday, before he could be released on bail for the robbery. Brooks was arraigned Saturday morning in Rochester City Court. Brooks pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.

Raphael Marquez, 17, was also arrested and charged with second degree murder on September 8. Police allege Marquez was the shooter who killed Jackson.
