Rochester police investigate ‘non-credible’ school shooting threat trend

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester police are investigating a “non-credible” school shooting threat circulating on social media as part of what the Rochester City School District called a larger national trend.

According to a message from the district, the threat has been spreading nationally on TikTok and Snapchat over the past week.

“The safety of our students and staff is a top priority,” the district said. “We are closely collaborating with the police and our community partners to ensure a safe learning environment.”

A student at Monroe High School was arrested Thursday and accused of bringing a loaded handgun to the campus.
