Fall Foliage Tracker: 2024 Edition

Have you noticed? Leaves are slowly starting to change color across parts of the region, a sure sign fall is right around the corner. We are still very early in the game, but here’s where spotty color is starting to pop:

John Kucko spent some time in Springwater today and saw “decent emerging color”. Using last year as a rough guide, this is a general timeline of expectations:

Worth noting, we have high confidence we’re going to deal with an unseasonably warm and dry stretch likely set to carry us through the remainder of the month of September. The ideal setup for great color involves cool nights and sunny days. While we’ll achieve the latter, cool night won’t be much of a thing around here for a bit. The dry conditions could also begin to stress trees if we don’t introduce some rainfall into that time period. We’ll need to monitor how that element plays out.
