    Three people on a Mercy Flight helicopter safe after hard landing at Canandaigua Airport

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Three people were deemed safe after a Mercy Flight helicopter they were in made a hard landing at the Canandaigua Airport Thursday night.

    Deputies in Ontario County said around 8 p.m. the helicopter was returning from a call when it malfunctioned. It then made a hard landing at the airport, the Mercy Flight base, on Brickyard Road. According to officials with Mercy Flight, a pilot, Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedic onboard safely got off without any injuries. They further said the cause of the incident is still unclear, and under “thorough investigation.”

    “We are immensely grateful for the emergency response tonight and for the entire community’s concern for the well-being of Mercy Flight Central,” officials with Mercy Flight said Thursday night.

    Several agencies responded including the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police as well as Canandaigua Fire and EMS.
