ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester police arrested a man for allegedly waving around a stolen and loaded handgun on Lyell Avenue.

Officers were called to the intersection of Lyell Ave. and North Plymouth Ave. Monday night for reports of a man waving with a handgun. They said they found the suspect, but when they tried to talk to him, he ran away.

31-year-old Jaquan Balkman was taken into custody. During the chase, it was alleged he dropped a loaded handgun. Investigators determined that the gun was reported stolen from Augusta, Georgia.

Balkman was charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.
