ORISKANY FALLS, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — An Oriskany Falls man is in State Police custody after an altercation with sheriffs, according to the Oneida County Sheriffs’ Office.

Sheriffs positively identified a male on Monday, September 23 — later identified as 39-year-old David Marriott of Oriskany Falls — who was a wanted subject out of Madison County. Sheriffs say they then approached Marriott to interview him. When asked to identify himself, Marriott allegedly gave officers a false name and date of birth.

When officers attempted to take Marriott into custody, he allegedly began a physical altercation with them. Officers ultimately deployed their stun guns to get Marriott under control. With the assistance of New York State Police officers, Oneida County Sheriffs were able to take Marriott into custody without further incident.

It was found that an officer received a minor injury to his leg during the altercation. The officer was treated by first responders on the scene and released.

Marriott was transported to the Wyman Law Enforcement Building in Oriskany where he was processed. He was then transported to CAP Court for arraignment. Marriott is currently being charged with:

    • False Personation, a Class B Misdemeanor,
    • Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor,
    • Second-degree Obstruction of Governmental Administration, a Class A Misdemeanor, and
    • Second-degree Harassment, a Violation.

Marriott was eventually released on his own recognizance. He was subsequently turned over to the New York State Police station in Morrisville for a bench warrant.

Oneida County Sheriffs were assisted on the scene by the New York State Police and the Oriskany Falls Fire Department.
