ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – Helene is huge!

Tropical Depression Helene is now in the process of being absorbed with an upper level low, slinging clouds and showers across a large chunk of the eastern half of the United States. Even in Rochester, we’ve noticed thin clouds slowly building overhead this evening. That cloud cover will likely gradually thicken overnight, although I don’t envision any rain falling (yet). With that blanket overhead, lows will be milder and should remain in the lower 60s.

It’s going to take some time to moisten our airmass enough to support light rain showers. I’m not sure there will be much wet weather around in the morning, but the afternoon could provide enough time to allow rain to fall. I don’t think it’ll be much, rather narrow bands of generally light stuff. Some of you won’t see any rain at all. All of you will deal with cloud cover, however. Sunday is a similar vibe with just a slight chance for a shower or two.

Better rain chances will return early next week, especially late Tuesday into Tuesday night.
